This is the Breakfast I Eat Almost Every Day

Morning is my favorite time of day. I live for the fresh slate that it provides! I’ve talked about things I do for a peaceful morning in the past, but one thing I haven’t shared is my go-to healthy breakfast. It took me a while to find a breakfast that was quick, flavorful, and would keep me full until lunch. I experimented with protein-rich yogurts, eggs, oatmeal, toast, and more, but I would either feel hungry a few hours later, break out (from the dairy and eggs), or get tired of the taste. When I perfected my smoothie recipe to cover all these bases, I didn’t look back!

Here’s what I love about this smoothie:

The frozen fruit provides a creamy, ice-cream like texture without unnecessary fats or calories

Vegan protein provides 20g of protein, a variety of raw vitamins, and doesn’t cause digestive issues

This smoothie tastes like a healthy milkshake

It keeps me full for a late lunch (1-2pm)

It takes me all of 3 minutes to make

My Nutribullet is incredibly easy to clean and pack

My Staple Recipe:

1 cup frozen strawberries

1 scoop of Plant Fusion Vanilla or Chocolate protein

1 cup of Silk Cashew Milk

Optional: 1/2 banana, spinach, flax/chia seed, spirulina, chlorella

Sometimes I swap the strawberries for other fibrous fruits like blackberries, blueberries, or raspberries. I choose cashew milk because it’s the creamiest and most flavorful. Depending on how much energy I feel I need, I’ll spice it up with add-ons like chia seeds, flax seeds, or some type of leafy green.

I’m allergic to whey and had to turn to vegan options for protein. If you’re allergic like me, I highly suggest you read about the effectiveness of allergy shots. After experimenting with many, my favorites are Plant Fusion’s chocolate protein and Garden of Life’s grain-free protein.

About 6 months ago, I resurrected my Nutribullet from college and it’s been the best decision! The blender unit is tiny and cleans easily with a quick rinse under the faucet. I have this smoothie 5-6 times a week when we’re at home, leaving one day for a brunch or breakfast out with David or a friend. But honestly, when I don’t have this smoothie, I miss it! I’m addicted and the flavor is so delicious.

What’s your favorite breakfast that keeps you energized in the morning? I’d love to know in the comments.
