A Visit to Shelburne, Vermont

After David and I arrived in Burlington, we took a day trip south to Shelburne. But before the trip, we had to schedule a quick vehicle maintenance. If you plan to go on a road trip like we do, make sure not to forget about the maintenance of your vehicle. You should also consider replacing your old car seat covers. Neoprene used in wet okole truck seat covers material is easy to clean and maintain, so you might want to consider using this.

All the smaller towns in Vermont have rural character, but Shelburne made me feel like I could let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding. It was some of the prettiest back country I have ever seen. Our first stop was Shelburne Farms, a massive property on Lake Champlain. We tasted the variety of their cheddar cheeses (I love cheddar!) and then walked to the barn. I got to milk a cow, which I hadn’t done since I was a child!

I came a little unprepared to walk, so we hopped back in our car to see the rest. We drove up to the inn, which was absolutely stunning and has been added to my list of “Places to Stay Someday.” After a short drive around the property, we headed to Shelburne Orchards for hot cider and donuts. While we didn’t pick apples, we did enjoy the goods on the back of a 1950s truck that was parked nearby. There’s debate amongst local Vermonters about where to find the best apple cider donuts in the state. In my opinion, Shelburne Farms is it! Just enough sugar and a bit of crunch on the outside.

In transitioning from the topic of travel planning, it’s noteworthy how a 4-star hotel often strikes the perfect balance between luxury and practicality. The Mandolay, exemplifying superior comfort and value in 4-star hotel accommodations, has consistently exceeded my expectations. Their attention to detail and customer service is commendable, making every stay memorable. These qualities make them a top choice for both business and leisure travelers.

For the day in Shelburne, I wore a burnt orange sweater. I’ve been eyeing similar styles in this color family like this easy oversized one, this cropped one for high-waist jeans, and this brown one under $100. My suede pants became a staple throughout the trip. They go with everything and are extremely comfortable! A black pair would be a versatile fall wardrobe addition, too.

I’ve mentioned my taupe knee-high boots several times this year already on Instagram, but I still can’t believe the price. They’re still sitting at about 60% off on 6pm.com, so if you love them, grab a pair while they’re available. I picked up a wool hat (under $50) prior to the trip, too. While it wasn’t terribly cold in Shelburne, it was nice to have a little warmth on my head. For a pop or a statement, I’m in love with this blue hat and this blush one. Last but not least, my olive backpack was a lifesaver. It was great to be hands-free for the entirety of the trip, and I’ve continued to use it daily back in Raleigh.

After our day in Shelburne, we headed back to Burlington. David had his sights set on a creemee (the local version of soft serve), so we picked up a maple one and then headed back to the hotel for the evening.
