15 Fall Bucket List Ideas

Every year I look forward to fall and do my best to take advantage of my favorite season with a fall to-do list. There are so many activities this time of year, from fall foliage trips to visits to the pumpkin patch. Below, I’ve rounded up some of the best fall bucket list ideas for couples and families. David and I have done many of the activities already, but some are on our list of fall activities to do this year. Grab a coffee, cozy up, and plan out which one you’re going to do first!

Autumn Bucket List

1. Go apple picking

This free fall activity is so quintessential that it almost feels cliche. Most of the apple orchards David and I have visited were in the northeast, but you can find places to pick apples in any state (just Google ‘apple orchard near…’). I love this activity because there’s something for everyone: spiked apple cider for adults, caramel apples for kids—the list goes on.

2. Decorate the house for fall

Is there anything like a cozy, warm home when it’s cold outside? One of my favorite things to do is grab a fall wreath at our local pumpkin patch and fill bowls and hurricanes throughout the house with natural elements like acorns, pinecones, and leaves. I shared more classic fall decorating tips in this post

3. Visit a corn maze

This is a great couples fall activity and can work for families with school age children as well. We love doing this on an afternoon or early evening when the crisp air is just cool enough to wear a cozy pullover and a pair of boots.

4. Host a football game watching party

Make a big pot of chili, get a selection of drinks and appetizers, and have your friends over for an all-day Saturday football watching spree. It’s also the perfect time to bet on 아리아카지노 and tailgate if you have a stadium or university in your town. And for those interested to take a look back into some of the greatest football matches, then you should take a look at the history of Liverpool FC here.

5. Have a bonfire

We’re seriously considering installing a permanent fire pit in the backyard, and every fall the itch to pull the trigger gets stronger. I love the idea of having drinks and s’mores with friends on a cool autumn night. This is also a great kid-friendly activity (and you can keep the s’mores mess outdoors!).

6. Make a homemade pie

Something about fall just makes me want to bake while sipping a hot drink (is it too soon for hot chocolate?). My favorites are apple pie and pumpkin pie for this time of year. See my fall recipes on this Pinterest board.

7. Visit the farmer’s market

Local markets are so fun during autumn. Our favorites in Vermont and the northeast have a selection of seasonal goodies (think Maple syrup, autumnal bouquets, pumpkins, and gourds) as well as crafts for children. Make it a complete outing by grabbing brunch or lunch afterwards at your favorite spot in town.

8. Eat something pumpkin

At the risk of being written off as entirely basic, I must admit that I love anything pumpkin. ‘Tis the season to treat yourself to a pumpkin spice latte or pumpkin bread. If you like to bake, break out that nutmeg and make donuts or roast pumpkin seeds. There are hundreds of great pumpkin recipes for free on Pinterest.

9. Watch a scary movie

I’m never one to watch a scary movie on my own, but I’ll snuggle up with my spouse or close friends and have a movie night in the fall. Some of my favorite “scary” movies are Signs, It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, and Ghostbusters.

10. Go on a hayride

The title says it all for this one. This is a simple way to entertain the family on a weekend, and farms that host hayrides often have other cute activities and things that interest kids like crafts, buckets of halloween candy, and fall toys for purchase

11. Decorate for halloween

I’m not one to wear a halloween costume, create an elaborate haunted house, or do a candy corn scavenger hunt, but you can add a few touches that the neighborhood trick or treaters will enjoy but don’t look too thematic. I love these DIY bat cutouts from Amazon for the front door and I always place a few skulls in black and white in our coffee table and entryway vignettes

12. Rake leaves

Every now and then I’ll reach for a rake instead of the leaf blower, and it’s actually so relaxing. If you have kids, make a pile of leaves and let them jump in! My grandfather used to do this for us and jumping in his pile of leaves when visiting for Thanksgiving is one of my favorite memories from childhood!

13. Attend a fall festival

There are hundreds of fun fall festivals throughout the country that run from late August through Thanksgiving. Some have hayrides, outdoor crafts for children, beautiful seasonal flowers, and, of course, pumpkins and gourds.

14. Host a chili cook-off

This classic fall gathering combines a few of the best things: good friends, hearty food, and friendly competition. We’ve hosted chili cook-offs outdoors (it makes for easy cleaning and preparation) in the past, and I love getting friends and family together before the busy Christmas and holiday season.

15. Make a fall craft

Fall brings with it so many natural elements (foliage, acorns, etc.) that are basically an open invitation to craft. There are fun things that aren’t too tricky to create, like a DIY fall wreath, and I’ve also seen people dry out foliage for a fall leaf display indoors. More fall crafts include painted pumpkins, corn husk bowls, and felt leaf wreaths.
