Choosing the best spring shoes can be equally exciting and challenging as you transition your wardrobe.
We’re all eager to bare our toes and ankles at the first signs of spring but still need trusty closed-toe and waterproof styles on reserve for the occasional afternoon shower.
My spring shoe philosophy is to go for equal parts stylish and practical. Below, I’m rounding up the best spring shoes for women. These are the basics to have on hand so you’re prepared for whatever the spring weather brings your way!
The Best Spring Shoes for Women
Sandals are my go-to as the weather becomes warmer. I love having flat sandals to slip on and off as I go in and out of the house.
My most-worn spring flat shoes over the last several years are my Hermes Oran lookalikes by Steve Madden and my Birkenstock style slide sandals.
Platforms are on the rise this season as well. I just purchased these raffia espadrille platform sandals and love them!

Heeled sandals feel pretty and refined, especially with details like bows, knots, and ankle straps.
I love a high heel but recommend a mid-block heel sandals or wedge sandals as an essential. They can be worn with dresses to occasions (Easter, Mother’s Day, etc.) and casually with denim for date night and the weekend.
Fringe Sandals (also in blue)
Sneakers remain at the forefront of the fashion scene, and this year’s styles are right in line with the spring 2022 fashion trends!
Pastel colors and platform sneakers are popping up in new arrivals everywhere, but if you want a go-with-everything, affordable white sneaker, these Sam Edelmans are great.
I’ve also shared reviews of Veja sneakers and Golden Goose sneakers, and I have an upcoming review for Common Projects sneakers, if you want to invest in something luxurious. For a slip-on sneaker, the Vince Warren and Blair are both amazing quality.
Loafers, Mules, and Flats
Loafers, mules, and flats can be tricky as they tend to look either very preppy or very feminine, so if neither suits your style well, you might need to do some digging.
If you can find a pair you love, they’re so practical for chilly spring days when you’re in need of a closed toe that’s more elevated than a sneaker.
I recently pulled the trigger on Gucci Princetown loafer mules after thinking about them for years and will be sharing a review later this year.

More Spring Shoe Options for Women
Keep in mind that this isn’t an exhaustive list.
- Neutral and white boots can carry you into May, especially if you live in a cold, rainy climate.
- Slingbacks are another great choice for this time of year as are ballet flats and peep-toe heels.
- Clogs are still on the shelves, and winter lug sole and rubber sole boots are great for early spring snow days.
- For vacation, I always recommend these flip flops (one pair lasts me about one spring/summer season).
