natalie yerger top fashion purchases of 2022

Happy 2023! I hope your holiday season was relaxing and that you’re feeling ready to jump into the year ahead. We spent the week between Christmas day and New Year’s almost entirely unplugged, which was such a treat.

Most of that time was divided between eating, sleeping, and movies, but I did spend a chunk of it reflecting.

Over the course of an entire year, there’s so much content that I get to share with you, so I thought it’d be fun to do a recap of what resonated most in 2022. I try to be very selective with the products I recommend, so it’s incredibly rewarding for me to look back and see what you loved as much as I did!

See below for the top posts and items of 2022. As always, thank you to each one of you who has supported me this year in your own way! I am so privileged and grateful to have you here.

Hugs and love as we head into this brand new year together!

1. Straight Leg Jeans

2022 was the year of straight jeans! I haven’t hung up my skinnies for good, but I lived in slim straight last year. The Paige Cindy are a zip fly and the ideal spring/summer light wash. The AGOLDE 90’s Pinch Waist are a casual washed black with a button fly (I also have the loose 90’s in a blue wash). The MOTHER full-length Rider have been my most-worn pair this year, with a true black wash, zip fly, high rise, and just enough stretch for comfort.

2. Loeffler Randall Tall Boots

My Goldy boots are an older item that got lots of love over the past year! I bought these in 2019 and Loeffler has since continued to bring them back annually because they’re that popular. They aren’t cheap, but I have searched high and wide and have yet to find a more comfortable, versatile, leather, block heel tall boot on the market. They come in several colors—I have black and cognac and find them true to size.

3. Vince Tank Dresses

I have an athletic figure and am always bit self conscious to wear fitted dresses, but this Vince racerback dress (also available here 50% off but final sale) is so flattering that I now have it in 3 colors. The material is thick so as not to show every little curve yet light enough to be worn in hot weather. I loved styling mine casually with sandals and a button down tied over top (see here), but you can also dress it up as shown. I wear S.

4. Sezane Finds

I grouped Sezane into one because I couldn’t get enough last year and neither could you! It’s always a fun surprise when a brand resonates; it encourages me to continue to try and share more Sezane finds in the new year. The Tomboy shirt (seen on me here) was a weekly staple in spring and summer. The fabric is the perfect weight (not too thin, doesn’t wrinkle easily), and it comes out on the other side of the laundry looking like new. The Scott trench coat was another favorite as was their Fétiche raffia belt (seen on me here and here) for adding a fun touch to billowy dresses (it’s no longer available, but linking their belt collection here in hopes they bring it back soon).

5. Naghedi Tote

The Naghedi St. Barth’s tote is my roomiest and most durable everyday tote. It’s also incredibly versatile—I’ve used it as my “personal item” for air travel, as a beach bag, as a grocery bag, and as a laptop tote. It’s carries a ton without feeling huge on the body, and it comes in a rainbow of colors, so there’s something for every season + taste. The large sizes includes a zip pouch that I like to use for sunscreen/cosmetics at the beach and for tech when I travel.

6. Ruffled Blouse

This Endless Rose blouse was a purely emotional purchase that I did not expect to resonate with you (it’s more frilly and romantic than what I usually share) but you loved it! I shared it around Valentine’s Day last year, and it’s back now in white and tan. It’s the ideal romantic blouse under $100 for Valentine’s Day and spring in general. I wear S.

7. Blazers

In 2022 I leaned into the sophisticated part of my style which meant acquiring more blazers. I’m hardly ever in a traditional office setting, but I find blazers so polished and sexy! They can take a good outfit to great while adding warmth for the A/C + cooler weather. The Khloe is a lightweight crepe with pre-cinched sleeves (SO flattering) that dresses up well. The Reiss Larsson has a more substantial weight and looks amazing on or draped over the shoulders. The Banana Republic blazer (I have in herringbone, see here) is a wallet-friendlier version of the chic double-breasted styles you see from L’Agence and Veronica Beard.

8. Rain Jacket

Rain jackets are at tricky piece to find in terms of style and functionality, but this Ilse Jacobsen jacket checks all the boxes. It’s loose enough to fit a sweater or tee underneath so it carries well from spring to summer to fall. I couldn’t find my exact mint color, but it’s available in 3 darker tones here, blush here, and the longer version is available in many colors on Amazon.

9. J.Crew Coatigan

Cropped, boxy lengths were trendy this past year, but you all had no intensions of letting your longer, draping layers go. The J.Crew Ella cardigan coat resurfaced as a reader favorite. It’s simple but versatile and goes especially well with travel outfits and casual looks. The colors are currently limited (keep an eye out for a restock around July/August), but the newest white coatigan is fully stocked, and I love it for spring.

10. Vince Sandals

I bought my first pair of these sandals in summer 2021, and I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I wore them so much I had to get a new pair only one year later. Note that that isn’t speaking to their durability—they are well made and comfortable—I just wore them to death (almost every weekday) for 3-5 months! You all loved them just as much in 2022. I shared them quite a few times during our summer stay in California. They’re currently under $100 on Amazon (65% off). Definitely grab a pair if you want them. I have a feeling Vince is going to restock these once they’re gone. I wear my true size.

1 & 2. Davines Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve been an Oribe hair girl through and through for over 5 years now, but it only took one long weekend with this shampoo and this conditioner to dethrone my beloved Oribe products. I still recommend Oribe (and wrote a post about my favorite Oribe products), but Davines is superior in every way. It isn’t as perfumed, and my hair has that weightless, soft, smooth, healthy feel that I honestly haven’t experienced since well before I started coloring my hair and using hot tools on it around age 16. I am obsessed with the Davines line—check back for a full review on it in 6-12 months!

2. Dyson Hair Dryer

We got stranded in NYC over Christmas without baggage, and having to use a hotel hair dryer (even one that was quite nice by hotel standards) made me remember what a difference the Dyson Supersonic makes. It is powerful but not too hot. Smoothing. Efficient. Versatile thanks to the attachments. It’s my desert island hair product and the one thing I recommend to every woman looking to upgrade her hair routine. I can live with any curling iron, flat iron, and wand, but I’ll never let the Dyson hair dryer go. See my Dyson Hair Dryer review for more details on why it’s so great.

3. Dior Lip Glow in Rose Gold

My everyday glowy lip! It’s a sheer neutral with a light rose tone, hydrating, and easy to apply. I love that Dior named the products “glow” because it really is the best way to describe them. They’re not sticky. they layer well, and they’re just a great soft tint. I keep them in the car, in my bags, and in my vanity.

4. Lip Liner in Wherever Walnut

I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again: I would choose this lip liner over any lip color if I had to make the sacrifice. This lip liner is your lips but better (the shade Wherever Walnut is the key). It goes in and out of stock constantly, but if you can snag it, do! It will make your lips look fuller and more shapely (I use more on my cupid’s bow) without anyone knowing they’re not really yours.
