Casual Maxis & How to Style Them

How to Look Put Together in a Casual Maxi

Outfit Details:

Free People Dress, Espadrilles (on sale!), Woven Bag (sold out, similar here), Cuyana Hat (under $100)

As the weather warms up, I aim to spend as little time getting ready as possible. There’s just too much sunshine and fun to be had to spend long putting together a complex outfit. Luckily for me, I love styling casual maxis. It’s incredibly easy as long as you have a few go-tos. Reach for a pair of raffia slides and a woven bag, then add a hat and sunglasses if you’d like. You can find different styles of glasses at low cost glasses. I listed some favorite options for each accessory below…

Espadrilles

A great pair of comfortable espadrilles is the first piece I suggest buying for any casual spring or summer wardrobe. My Schutz platform espadrilles are currently on sale; they are so comfortable and pair well with everything! If you’ll be doing lots of walking, an espadrille with a strap has more staying power. For a concert or the beach, pair it with my favorite summer slides under $100 or the ever-reliable Tkees.

Summer Hat

Another way I love to add a little something to a flowy, casual dress is to wear a hat. I didn’t start wearing them for style until recently. They’re one of the most overlooked accessories – don’t you always notice someone in a hat? I do! My Cuyana hat is the only hat I own for summer because it’s so versatile! It’s under $100 too. If you’re looking for something even more affordable, I love this straw hat for $13.

Woven Bag

The last piece I recommend is a bag. Woven bags match the mood of summer and are usually just large enough to hold what you need for a daytime outing. I usually carry a small wallet, one lip color, sunglasses, and my sunglasses; I don’t need much during the day. This one is similar to the bag I’m wearing. If you need more room, try this one under $150.

More Casual Maxis I Love

This Free People maxi comes in 5 colors and is highly rated for good reason. The boho cut makes it super easy to wear, and the embroidery adds a touch of feminine detail. For casual maxis like this one, it doesn’t take much to complete the outfit using the 3 things I mentioned above. More of my favorite casual maxis at every price are in the widget below…
