5 Lightweight Jacket Styles I Always Have on Hand

North Carolina is having a “true” spring this year, which is so pleasant. In other words, we’re actually getting spring temperatures instead of jumping straight to 95° with 100% humidity.

These mild weather is so wonderful for enjoying coffee on the porch and getting out and about in the evenings. It’s also perfect for the lightweight jackets I have in my closet.

Below, I’m sharing five types of spring jackets I recommend having on rotation and what I typically wear with each.

Utility Jacket

Over a jumpsuit. With a white tee and jeans. Over a t-shirt dress. There are endless ways to style this one—and no, your utility jacket doesn’t have to be green! I do love the classic color but also adore neutral options, like this cream jacket under $100.

Moto Jacket

A great faux leather jacket is one of those things that just looks good on anybody, even if you’re not into “edgy” style. This tan moto jacket under $200 is perfect for a lightened up spring looks.

Trench Coat

A practical piece for rain or brisk evenings. Love pairing my long coat with jeans and heels for a lengthening effect. This shorter option is great for everyday wear with flats or sneakers.

Jean Jacket

What I reach for when I’m not wearing jeans. I like to throw mine over a floral maxi or midi dress. It also works well with white jeans or non-denim pants, like culottes.

Anorak

If you love athleisure, you need one of these. And not the ’90s kind that you can hear ‘whooshing’ from a mile away. There are so many chic options these days—I bought this anorak in ‘Cafe Au Lait’ and love throwing on with leggings when I’m out working at a coffee shop.
