The Satin Edit

Over the past year I’ve noticed myself leaning towards satin and similar fabrics with a light drape. I used to be steer clear of these for fear that every little curve would show through. However, much to my surprise, that isn’t as much of an issue these days thanks to small improvements like added lining.

My go-to lately has been a satin slip skirt with a casual linen blouse, but I recently bought this silk tank dress from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and it far exceeded my expectations! It’s lined, has pockets, and has a side slit that gives it gorgeous movement.

I wore it for date night (seen here), but it will also work under a blazer, cardigan, or oversized sweater (seen here) for fall. My exact dress has been going in and out of stock, but this one and this one are similar.

If dresses aren’t your thing, you could go with a satin separate to get that same supple feel in your wardrobe. A classic skirt, button up blouse, or pants easily dress up or down. I love a satin blouse with a knit midi skirt and sandals, but you can make a satin skirt office-friendly with a blazer like this. Any of the above can be paired with a coat and boots for fall days ahead!

My favorite brands for these fabrics are Max Mara Leisure, Cuyana, Vince, and L’Agence, but I know they can be quite pricey—luckily places like H&M and Mango have recreated beautiful styles at a much cheaper price point, so I included some of those as well! Enjoy!
