Whoever invented the name ‘teddy coat’ must have been a brilliant marketer because nothing could sound as alluring on a cold winter day. It can be a challenge to find styles that aren’t overly bulky or stiff, but over the past couple of years, I hit the jackpot and collected a handful of chic options that I absolutely love.

Vince Teddy Coat

This is the first long coat I’ve found that doesn’t overwhelm my frame. It’s on sale now here and runs true to size (more sizes available here and here)—I’m wearing small. I paired it with this turtleneck by one of my favorite sweater brands, new bootcut jeans that are not to be missed if you’re a fellow tall girl, and suede ankle booties (this is a similar pair).

Vince Teddy Jacket

There’s a brand theme happening here! The cream Vince teddy jacket below is old, and sadly they didn’t release a short teddy style this season. However, this is a similar style by Rag & Bone and this is a great option under $300 by Faherty. I love to pair this creamy style with white base layers, and the length also looks great with dresses and skirts.

Velvet & Graham Teddy Jacket

This is my favorite hip-length teddy jacket I’ve purchased to date. The pictures online don’t do it justice (looks bulkier than it appears, in my opinion). The stand collar on this black teddy coat is flattering with all types of tops and the length works well in winter outfits with jeans, trousers, skirts, and dresses. It is thick, comfy, soft against the skin, and very warm.
