Basics really are the heart of a great wardrobe, and even more so in fall as the weather cools, creating a need for sweaters, denim, pants, and layers that are both functional and stylish.
As much as I love dressing up satin skirt or floral dress, this time of year you’ll find me in casual fall outfits, whether I’m working from home, running a quick errand, or relaxing on the weekend.
So many of you have requested more laid-back style inspiration, so today I’m sharing the my picks for casual fall outfit staples. See below for the fall basics I purchased this year and a roundup of neutral sweaters, chic outerwear, comfortable shoes, and everyday accessories to make weekday dressing a breeze!
Casual Fall Outfit Staples for 2022
I’ve tried dozens of sweater brands over the years (and even wrote a post ranking them), but nothing comes close to Vince for quality, casual fall sweaters. The price tag is high, but since these are a staple I wear multiple times throughout the week all season, it’s worth it (the reviews speak for themselves!). For similar, less expensive everyday sweaters, I also recommend Everlane and J.Crew.
Shop NowI have so many pairs of boots that I love, but most of the ankle boots I’ve collected over the years are heeled, so this year I wanted to add an easy Chelsea boot that was a) comfortable and b) wouldn’t break the bank. These Steve Madden boots have been perfect for just that! They come in hazelnut brown, black, and beige. I took my true size.
Shop NowThis cut in washed black (seen on me here) and blue has been my most-worn this fall. They have a high-rise waist and a straight fit through the leg that goes with everything from boots and a blazer to sneakers and a sweater. Size down if you want a fitted feel; take you normal size if you want a relaxed feel.
