Juliet Dunn is one of my favorite designers and one of the first brands that comes to mind when I’m looking for easy, feminine dresses and separates. I’ve slowly grown my small but mighty collection of their pieces, including mini dresses, midi dresses, maxi dresses, and matching sets.

Every Juliet Dunn item I receive has details as beautiful as the last, whether an ornate floral print, ruffled edges, embroidery, ric rac, or shoulder ties. In fact, that level of detail is one of the things Juliet Dunn is known for; think whisper-weight fabrics with a boho yet elegant vibe that’s perfect for a beach vacation or dining alfresco in summer.

My Review: Are Juliet Dunn Dresses Worth It?

If you appreciate well-made clothing and want warm weather pieces that are elegant and easy to style, I think you’ll love Juliet Dunn dresses as much as I do.

All the designs take inspiration from traditional kaftans, so each piece is handmade by Indian artisans who use ancient techniques of fabric dying, block printing, hand embroidery, and stitching. Unboxing Juliet Dunn items feels like a treat in and of itself; everything is always more beautiful than it appears online thanks to the level of attention given to each piece.

Once you figure out your Juliet Dunn sizing, I think you’ll find yourself wanting to add more of her styles to your wardrobe. This is an elegant summer and vacation brand you’ll re-wear year after year.

Juliet Dunn Sizing

Juliet Dunn sizes tend to vary based on the shape of the style. And this is especially true of her dresses. The Juliet Dunn site has a size chart to help you compare standard international sizes. But I’ve found that it’s best to use this only as a starting point.

In general, I’ve found that Juliet Dunn runs small. I almost always go up a size from my recommended size (based on the Juliet Dunn size chart). I’m a size 2/4 in US sizes, which would be equivalent to a size 0 in Juliet Dunn. Most of my Juliet Dunn dresses are a size 1. But I order my true size 0 in the top and short sets (more on why below).

For reference, I’m 5’9″ and about 135 pounds. I wear size 2/25 in most US styles.

I’ve tried every category Juliet Dunn makes, and here are my sizing recommendations for each.

Dresses

When choosing a Juliet Dunn dress size, there are three important considerations: the style of the bust area, the length of the dress, and how you plan to wear it.

In Juilet Dunn cotton midi dresses that are fitted through the bust, like the best selling tie-shoulder dress, I size up to a 1 so that my chest doesn’t pull at the buttons. Keep in mind, that’s even with me having a very small A chest. In her midi dress styles that are roomier through the bodice, I stick with my recommended size 0. The tie shoulder sundresses are my favorite style by Juliet Dunn on the whole; they’re the perfect everyday summer dress. I have the sandstone palladio print and the gold Japanese print.

Length is always a concern with her mini dresses, which tend to run short. In the best selling blouson dress, which is a cotton poplin shirt dress, I size up one. The top portion of this dress fits loosely. But the skirt is shorter, so I need the extra length as a tall girl. In a-line and flowy styles, I’m okay in my true size.

Lastly, if you want to wear any of her dresses as a beach coverup, you may not need to size up. This is especially true for the minis (length isn’t as much of a concern for me by the beach). In fact, many of the coverup styles are one size fits all to make things easy. As a general rule of thumb, if you want to wear any of her minis that have number sizing out and about, sizing up one is a safe bet.

Tops and Short Sets

Most Juliet Dunn tops and shorts tend to run true to size. Almost all of her shorts have a fitted high waist and are slightly roomier over the thighs. So sizing up isn’t necessary.

Likewise, most of the tops have flowy silhouettes that don’t require sizing up. However, like the midi dresses, if the top has a close fit to the bust and you are bigger in the chest, you may want to consider going up one.

Many of her tops and shorts are designed as co-ords, making them easy to style. A favorite of mine is the best selling baby doll top and matching shorts, a relaxed, put-together pairing that looks great with simple sandals and a tote bag.
