One of the best fashion surprises we can all relate to is trying on a dress to discover that it has pockets. I can’t tell you the number of times in my life I’ve said the exact phrase: “Ooh, it has pockets!” They add such a practical touch to and are sometimes the quality that pushes me over the edge to make a purchase.
I’ve picked up a handful of dresses recently in anticipation of living in them throughout the summer (is there anything easier?), and a few have pockets, like the striped Madewell dress I’m wearing in this post. It’s going like hotcakes everywhere, so be sure to check Shopbop, Madewell, Zappos, and Nordstrom for your size if you love it.
After outfit repeating this dress a handful of times on the first week it arrived, I wanted to do a roundup of some favorite summer dresses with pockets (many of which are in my closet!). There are so many styles at reasonable price points, but like always, I added a couple pricier beauties that I’d personally buy.
Hopefully you find something on this list that makes easy summer style a little more achievable for you!
Summer Dresses with Pockets
Another feature from my black summer dress try on, this is a gauzy dress with a tie waist. The perfect casual summer dress for working from home, running errands, and travel. XIRENA usually releases it in a few colors each season.
This is a maxi t-shirt dress that I bought last summer with a tie waist for added shape. They released it in a sleeveless version this year, and I’m very tempted! Best of all, it’s under $200. You can see a photo of me in it in this white summer dress roundup.
The reviews for this dress are always mixed, but I personally love it. It’s a little oversized but not loose. Very minimalist and stylish. I love how it looks with natural sandals, a woven tote, and a summer hat. A great “I’m going to get flowers at the Farmer’s Market and want to look cute” kind of dress.
I have this dress in black, and it’s a gorgeous summer wedding guest dress or fancy vacation dress. I love the feminine details (sweetheart neckline and shoulder ties), and the smocked bodice + flared skirt combination is very flattering and comfortable. It’s available in mini length, too.
This one features one of my favorite sundress silhouettes (tiered body with shoulder ties and, of course, pockets). MILLE releases it in a few colorways every year, including classic white, pink, and prints.
This is another MILLE best seller on my wishlist. It has long sleeves, a tassel neckline, and an empire waist. It comes in floral prints, stripes, and solids, so there’s a little something for everyone.
This list would not be complete without mentioning one of Anthopologie’s best selling products ever, the Somerset Maxi. People say it’s like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants jeans but in a dress: flattering on everyone, versatile, and comfortable. It comes in prints, solids, and cutwork styles.
Every now and then Amazon the Drop will release a major winner, and all their styles are usually under $100. This tiered maxi tent dress comes in over 15 colors and is one of those reliable summer styles when it’s hot and you need something easy to wear.
I love this billowy silhouette from Free People for an easy feel. The button detailing in the back and the tie-back straps add a little interest, and it’s only $80.
