The Best Stores to Shop for Feminine Clothing

While I wouldn’t describe my fashion taste as entirely girly, a touch of feminine has been part of my personal style for as long as I can remember. My appreciation for elements that bring a soft aesthetic to whatever I’m wearing has only grown as my taste has evolved. Whether a perfect dress like these indian dresses uk, drapey fabric, lace trim, well-placed ruffles, or a décolletage-bearing neckline, romantic details often make the difference between a piece that gathers dust and something I feel genuinely excited to wear.

Over the years, I’ve gravitated toward a handful of labels that always deliver when it comes to romantic pieces. Below, I’m sharing the feminine stores I check first when I’m looking for new clothing to add!

The Best Feminine Stores to Shop

Whether your taste errs toward pastel and delicate or floral and romantic, keep reading for the best feminine clothing brands I’ve discovered! They’re categorized by low ($300) and high (over $300) price points, so there’s a little something for everyone.

Affordable Feminine Clothing Brands

Pieces from these brands tend to sell out quickly since most release limited collections every season. Don’t leave anything in your cart too long as it may not be available later!

Sezane

Some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe are from Sezane. They specialize in French fashion with a feminine flare and their dresses, sweaters, and blouses always have a pretty touch. Most items tend to be in the under $200 range. You can read my roundup of brands like Sezane to discover similar stores if you like to mix girly style and effortless French style.

Lulus

Lulus has been a go-to brand among fashion creators for years, especially for affordable dresses. Across the site, almost everything is under $100! I often find designer lookalike styles here, like this feathered holiday party set (a look for less for a $300 set by Sleeper).

& Other Stories

This brand tends to be more trend-driven but always has a selection of feminine and romantic pieces, regardless of the season. Their blouses and dresses are favorites of mine as they tend to incorporate floral prints, soft colors, and feminine details, like sweetheart necklines, embroidery, and smocking.

Reformation

Founded in Los Angeles as a vintage clothing store, Reformation is known for its floral dresses and carries different styles that suit everything from weekends to date nights to weddings. I’ve also purchased some of my favorite two-piece sets for spring and summer from them, and their blouses aren’t to be missed! I like that the brand keeps a focus on sustainability and can be found at many of my favorite retailers, such as Nordstrom and Net-A-Porter.

En Saison

If you haven’t heard of En Saison and love feminine style, I think you’ll be so delighted to discover them! They describe their clothing as “modern-day romantic,” so all their collections feature florals, ruffles, smocking, bows, and corset bodices. En Saison is sold at many retailers, but I like to shop directly at EnSaisonStudios.com as they carry many pieces that are exclusive to the site.

H&M

The H&M website can be overwhelming, but I always find a few gems when I take the time to sift through their new arrivals. Since it is fast fashion, items tend to sell out in about 10 days after dropping, so I always add pieces to my cart for checkout as soon as I can. Dresses and tops are the two categories I’d look into for feminine pieces first, followed by skirts and pants.

Endless Rose

Similar to En Saison, Endless Rose carries modern yet ladylike pieces. Nearly every item they sell has lace, ruffles, or embroidery, and the prices are just as easygoing as their dresses, skirts, blouses, rompers, and much more. This ruffled blouse has been a favorite of mine for several years as has this tiered dress for spring and summer.

English Factory

English Factory is actually the sister label of Endless Rose. While both brands have a feminine aesthetic, English Factory pieces tend to be a little more understated. They temper frilly details with airy cotton and bold colors with simple silhouettes. I love this brand as their pieces tend to provide a little more versatility than traditional romantic styles.

For Love & Lemons

For Love & Lemons tends to be on the pricier side of mid-range fashion, but the quality is always on par. This is also a great brand to shop for look for less styles. I’ll often see similar designs to that of luxury brands, such as Zimmermann and Charo Ruiz, for a fraction of the price.

ASTR the Label

ASTR has been around for over a decade, and they’re a fun one to browse because they’ve mastered both on-the-nose girly pieces (bright puff sleeve tops, tiered floral dresses) as well as modern ones (side slit metallic dresses, pastel trousers). Their Gaia dress is one of my most recommended warm-weather wedding guest dresses, but they sell much more including tops, sweaters, outerwear, and bottoms.

Luxury Feminine Clothing Brands

See by Chloé

The little sister to French fashion powerhouse Chloé, See by Chloé has breezy dresses, coats, and bottoms, but my favorite pieces to shop are their handbags and shoes. They somehow perfectly infuse everyday basics and on-trend styles with a cool, unique feel that’s still romantic.

Cinq à Sept

A little French, a little feminine, and a little rock ‘n roll, Cinq à Sept is a top 10 brand for me. Their name actually translates “five to seven,” and you’ll see that reflected in their pieces as many of them can be easily worn during those evening hours when you’re getting drinks, going on a date, or attending an event. Their dresses are to die for, and they make one of my favorite pieces in my entire wardrobe: the Khloe blazer.

LoveShackFancy

If your style is boho feminine, you’ll absolutely love LoveShackFancy. The designer’s original vision was to create pieces for “dancing barefoot in the garden under the moonlit summer night,” and honestly, just about everything they create is pretty perfect for that! You’ll see a lot of embroidery, tiered fabric, and broderie anglaise throughout the collections. The Stella dress is a longtime favorite of mine.

Self Portrait

When I’m looking for a luxe feminine style to wear to a party, wedding, or event, Self Portrait is my first stop. Guipure lace is a signature of the brand, so it’s no surprise their lace dresses are absolutely stunning. I like to think of these as standout, investment wardrobe pieces for when you want to make a statement. They’re sophisticated and sexy yet feminine.

Alice + Olivia

Alice + Olivia is playful, modern, and feminine. You’ll see all the mainstays of feminine style in this designer’s pieces, from ties to blouson sleeves, puff sleeves, soft pinks, and florals, but she also incorporates slightly edgier fabrics and details. Examples include silky short shorts, leather blazers, and feather-trim mini dresses with cutouts. Definitely a brand to browse if you’re looking to take your feminine style out of the box a bit!

Ulla Johnson

I like to describe Ulla as feminine fashion meets artisan details. Everything they release has a push-pull balance of global references like Batik prints, fringe, and embroidery. You’ll see the brand take on trends but never sacrifice its trademark look. The combination of tasteful finishes, amazing fit, and artisanal prints make their pieces truly one of a kind.

Carolina Constas

This brand was catapulted to popularity by its collarbone-baring, off-the-shoulder tops and dresses (as shown on me in this Memorial Day outfit roundup). They also carry a lot of statement-making pieces, like high-low gowns for weddings and blouses with allover smocking and puff sleeves. I love to browse Caroline Constas when I’m prepping for a warm-weather vacation as the items are made with travel in mind.

Hannah Artwear

I always find beautiful boho feminine dresses with Hannah Artwear. The necklines are so pretty, with deep v-cuts and low backs that often incorporate a bow or a wrap. The fabric is lightweight and flowy, making them perfect for vacations, outdoor weddings, or special events in the spring or summer.

Zimmermann

If I could fill my wardrobe with only one brand, it would probably be Zimmermann! Their pieces are luxe, feminine, and unique, and they make everything from silky maxi dresses to lightweight day dresses to printed shorts, statement blouses, and accessories. I love that they aren’t trendy, and just about everything makes it to my wishlist whenever I’m looking at their new arrivals.

Retailers that Carry Feminine Clothes

If you enjoy department store shopping for convenience, you can still find some of my favorite feminine brands. Here are retailers that carry one or more of the brands mentioned above:

Shopbop

Shopbop is one of my most-shopped online stores (mostly because you can get overnight and two-day shipping if you’re an Amazon Prime member). They lean on the pricier side but carry some of my favorite brands like Loeffler Randall, ASTR the Label, Zimmermann, and Ulla Johnson. Their Fashion Finds Under $200 page is a great place to discover affordable styles on the site.

Saks Fifth Avenue

As I’ve gotten older and adopted more of a “buy once, have forever” shopping philosophy, Saks Fifth Avenue has become one of my favorite spots for everything from seasonal basics to occasion pieces and accessories. They carry nearly every feminine brand I mentioned above, and their website makes the shopping experience effortless as you can save favorites and search by brand, price point, and style.

Nordstrom

Nordstrom is a wonderful catchall shopping destination for feminine style because they carry a wide variety of brands at all price points, from under $100 styles to investment pieces for a special event. If you’re unfamiliar with Nordstrom, their return policy is incredible (you get a full year to return most items), which takes away some of the stress of online shopping. I also love shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale every summer.

What Is Feminine Clothing?

In the most traditional sense, feminine clothes tend to incorporate soft colors and floral prints, sweeping silhouettes, and romantic details such as tulle, bows, and embellishment. Quintessential feminine clothing examples include dresses and skirts, but any clothing item can have feminine details, such as a black dress with a low back or sweeping neckline.
