Winter White Pants, 2 Ways

I absolutely love a winter white outfit but was always nervous to try non-denim white bottoms for fear they’ll be see-through until I found the perfect pair in Soho during our visit to NYC over the holiday break.

I popped into A.L.C. in search of an evening top and left with these after being blown away by their fit, opaqueness, and color. Last year I shared winter outfit ideas with white jeans, and I wanted to highlight winter whites yet again but this time featuring white pants.

Neutral Look with a Sweater and Coat

For the first look, I paired the high waist pants with a cashmere off-white turtleneck and one of my favorite winter coats in white. I love a tonal cold weather look like this that incorporates several textures (leather in the shoes, wool, cashmere) to help prevent the outfit from falling flat. This winter white pants outfit would be perfect for the office or a business casual event.

Transitional Look with a Tank and Blazer

For the second look, I paired a luxe tank with open-toed sandals and one of my favorite blazers of all time by CInq a Sept. This is a great transitional look for the office as the blush nods to spring and you have an open toe shoe and a lightweight fabrication in the blazer. I highly, highly recommend this Cinq a Sept blazer if you’re looking for a go to. I wear it with denim, over dresses, with skirts and tops. It really is the best out there in my opinion as the shape and pre-cinched sleeves are incredibly flattering. I have it in several colors and fabrics!

More Winter White Pants Options

The pants I’m wearing are the A.L.C. Chelsea Tailored Pant and they are incredibly flattering, thanks to the elongating front pleat, leg-skimming cut, and high rise that actually fits. A.L.C. sizing is all over the place, but I took a 2 in these.

I’m 5’9″ and they graze the floor at just the right spot, but if you’re below 5’7″ I’d anticipate budgeting for an alteration or wearing really tall heels. The material is a four-season fabric that’s ideal for the office, an event, or a nice evening out. Can’t recommend these white pants enough!

I did some perusing and found more winter white pants with different details, in case you’re looking for something more budget-friendly, less dressy, or that has a shorter inseam:

  • Wool Straight Leg Pants: These creamy pants by Banana Republic are cut with a long inseam (designed to be worn with heels). I bought a pair last winter and had to return them as they run large and no longer had my size The material is a substantial brushed wool that works for the office or a night out.
  • Wide-Leg Pants: I’ve had my eye on the Maeve Colette ankle pants at Anthropologie for a couple of years now. They’re a best seller and the fit is supposedly light, stretchy, high-waisted, and flattering. I love the idea of them with slim shaft booties and a tucked sweater now and then paired back with sandals and a colorful blouse in the spring.
  • Cream Leather Pants: Leather pants can be incredibly tricky, from fit to color, stretch, and fabric, but these cream faux leather straight pants look incredible. I’m always pleasantly surprised by Express bottoms, and these would look so polished in a tonal look.
  • Non-White Option: If winter whites aren’t worth the coffee spill to you, these soft beige trouser pants under $100 have great reviews and would pair well with everything from a fun top for a night out to a chic sweater for the office.
