A Classic Combination: White Blouse and Jeans
A white blouse and jeans is one of those classic, understated outfit combinations that stands the test of time. I love this pairing throughout the year but especially in spring and summer when I’m craving all things light and airy.
I keep the tops in my closet sorted by color for visual appeal, and about one third are a shade of white white. There aren’t any repeats, either! Each serves a special purpose thanks to differences in fabric, silhouette, sleeves, and details like lace and smocking.
I have a few tried and true staples, like this feminine button down, this sweet scallop top, and this polished cream tank, but I love adding new styles each season. This year, I took home the cotton poplin top (shown above), this floaty blouse, this affordable ruffled v-neck.
White Blouses to Pair with Jeans
I shared my picks for white summer tops early in the season, but so many more gorgeous styles have dropped since, so I thought I’d second spotlight featuring white blouses pair especially well with jeans!

Best Jeans for White Tops
A white blouse goes with almost any jean, but a relaxed light wash is my favorite for summertime. I’ve tried relaxed boyfriend jeans, wide leg jeans, straight leg jeans, and even skinny jeans, and all work depending on the final look you’re after.

Tips for Styling a White Blouse with Jeans
The beauty of styling a white blouse with jeans is that it requires so little effort. That being said, I like to pay attention these details to make sure the final look is polished and balanced:
- Fabric: Reach for lightweight cotton and gauzy tops for casual looks. And save dressier fabrics and details (embroidery, cutouts) for occasions/evening.
- Waistline: A half or french tuck does wonders when you’re working with oversized white blouses. I reach for high-waisted jeans when wearing crop tops unless we’re on vacation.
- Shoe Choice: White blouses and jeans are great for a variety of shoe styles (sneakers, flat sandals, mules, ballet flats, heeled sandals). I choose shoes that align with the vibe of the top (strappy sandals with a lace blouse, for example) and/or the setting (white sneakers for travel).
- Inseam: My ankle length blue jeans tend to be the most versatile for styling with white blouses, but I’ve also paired crop jeans in casual looks and full-length styles with heels.
