I’m headed down to Charleston, South Carolina this weekend for my sister’s bachelorette party, which feels like the perfect way to close out the summer. I can’t think of a more quintessential place to be at the end of this season: Charleston sits right by the ocean, is caked in southern food, and will be humid and sunny to be sure.
Since Labor Day is upon us, it means the season of pastels, white, sunglasses, floppy hats, and bathing suits is coming to a close. Thankfully, the fashion world is moving full speed ahead toward fall, which means much of the summer attire and accessories are at discount prices for us to enjoy snagging ahead of Labor Day weekend! I’m really excited about this post because every single piece I included as inspiration is under $100 right now! Keep reading for 3 outfits to wear this Labor Day weekend, no matter what you’re up to, as you savor the last of sweet summer…
Outfit #1: Ruffle Top / White Denim / Sunglasses / Bucket Bag / Blue Sandals
I love the look of flattering high-waisted, white jeans with a flowy, floral top to evoke that breezy summer feeling. The pink bucket bag, yellow-tinted sunglasses, and blue sandals bring this outfit together, echoing the details in the top. If you’re going out to a nicer dinner this weekend or shopping around town with girlfriends this Labor Day, this outfit would be my pick. The floral blouse can easily be transitioned into fall (I’d pair it with dark jeans and knee highs, or even a suede mini-skirt), and the other items can be tucked away and resurfaced when pastels return in early spring.

Outfit #3: Tee / Skirt / Scarf / Belt / Backpack / Sneakers
Madewell is having a 15% off everything sale (ends tonight), so I started with my favorite Madewell basic tee and built this outfit around it. It comes in a variety of colors & pairs perfectly with this step-hem denim skirt (under $60). The black version of the skirt is a nice transitional piece as well. I’d tuck the tee in the front, use this classic brown belt, and tie a scarf around my neck or in my hair for an added touch.
I’m planning on wearing something like this for our shopping day in downtown Charleston this Saturday. I’ll probably pair it with sneakers like these (love the bow detail for a touch of feminine) and a faux leather backpack – I need my hands to be free as we may bike around the city!
