The relaxing of COVID restrictions and the approach of summer can feel exciting or overwhelming, depending on where you’re at. On one hand, I’m ready to seize the post-quarantine world. On the other hand, I’m weary of transitioning out of athleisure and into “real” clothes.
I want to embrace the opportunity, though, because I have to say: I think my ideals around outfits have changed over the past year. I appreciate comfort more than ever, and I want to feel put together without sacrificing that.
I thought it might be helpful to round up the things I’m buying for summertime to make the transition to “real outfits” easy as pie. These are breezy pieces—many loose fitting—to help you turn any dread you have about post-quarantine dressing into anticipation and excitement. Here’s to a styled and comfortable summer!
Two Piece Set
My sister and I purchased this under $100 set on the same night! It comes in three colors, has an open back, and fits true to size. One and done set = less planning required.
Black Maxi Dress
I brought this maxi (last seen here) to the front of my wardrobe because I know I’m going to want something flowy and pocketed this summer. Want the get the look for less? This Amazon option is nearly identical with thicker straps.
White Midi Dress
Another “shop my closet” piece, I’ll be wearing this Sleeper dress (last seen here) all summer. Here’s a similar white dress under $100 and similar floral option for $108!
White Mini Dress
This white mini dress is the cotton version of my linen Mango dress (last seen here)! I’ve worn mine for date night, casually with sneakers, and at the beach.
Romper
I love rompers and jumpsuits and wear them all. the. time. throughout summer. This $79 Mango romper has a tie to accentuate the waist and isn’t too short in the torso or legs (I’m 5’9″). If you get cold cold indoors (aka: strong A/C), here’s a gorgeous long sleeve jumpsuit.
Sleeveless Sweater
I love knit tanks for tucking into shorts, denim, or even a slip skirt for a nice contrast of textures. This one is airy, soft, and comes in two neutral colors—size down.
Denim Cutoffs
An easy go-to for said tank top, a pretty blouse, or a white tee, cutoffs are just the best. I bought the new longer AGOLDE shorts for added coverage in white and blue.
Carryall Bag
Pool essentials, road trip snacks, Farmer’s Market finds—wherever summer takes you, a tote is the best for carrying all the things. I bought this woven bag (back on preorder at the moment) but also recommend L.L. Bean’s signature canvas tote. If you travel light, I LOVE this mid-size woven tote.
There you have it! Here’s to feeling our best this summer without sacrificing comfort. For more summer style inspiration, be sure to check out the summer capsule wardrobe (updated for 2021!), my recent summer finds under $100, and my profile in the LIKEtoKNOW.it shopping app.
