DeMellier Bag Review

DeMellier bag review

DeMellier London is one of those handbag brands that had my attention for several years before I made one of their products my own. While their best seller, the Vancouver crossbody bag, is still on my wishlist (the light tan smooth in particular), I got two summer bags from DeMellier this year and they were both love at first wear. For high-quality bags, the price point is reasonable (all are under $1,000; most under $500), and I love the sleek, polished designs. I get questions about my accessories all the time, so here’s my Demellier bag review.

My Honest DeMellier Bag Review

The two DeMellier styles in my wardrobe are the Santorini leather trim basket bag and the Cannes clutch in raffia. Here’s my review of each one.

The Santorini

The Santorini is one of my most worn lately, especially in neutral looks or with a simple dress. It’s a comfortable size for carrying all day long, and it fits a ton inside. I have the medium, but it’s also available in small and large.

The Cannes

The Cannes clutch is one I save for special occasions. For date night, summer events, and warm weather weddings, it’s perfect. The shape is so sophisticated (more structured than other raffia clutches out there), and I absolutely love the gold plated closure. Inside, I can fit my card case, phone, lip colors, and other small essentials—it was just enough space for an evening out! It can be carried under the arm but I love using the gold chain shoulder strap.

Popular DeMellier Bags

The Mini Venice

Dare I say it, but this bag looks near identical to the Chloe Marcie bag for a fraction of the price. It’s a lightweight, small, and practical bag that can be worn crossbody or carried by the handle. I think the Mini Venice is a great day bag when you’re looking to go hands free.

The Vancouver

The Vancouver is one of DeMellier’s most iconic styles, and they always have it available in at least 10 colors. The structure is familiar—it’s a square flap bag with soft, round edges and an adjustable strap—but the double-bar lock gives it a fresh feel without making it look gaudy.

The Nano Montreal

The Montreal is DeMellier’s take on the micro-bag trend, so if something petite is up your alley, this one’s worth checking out. It has the same signature double-bar lock as the Vancouver, but it also has a top handle. A great option for ladies who don’t like to carry much.

The Midi New York

I love this style. It’s a great everyday bag with a spacious interior, and the flared edges give it a relaxed feel while the gold belted detail and sturdy leather handles give it a polished look overall (reminds me of the Celine belt bag). A great bag to hold your essentials if you prefer carrying by elbow or in hand.

The London

The London is similar to the Vancouver crossbody but with a slightly more geometric, contemporary lines. The bottom edges are beveled, which gives it a distinct shape, and I love that it has a magnetic closure and an outer pocket for easy access to your phone.

About DeMellier London

DeMellier was founded in 2017 by Mireia Llusia-Lindh, a Harvard Business School grad who wanted to design luxury handbags differently. All DeMellier bags are ethically handcrafted in family-owned factories in Spain or Italy using sustainably sourced materials. For every price sold, DeMellier funds treatments to save the life of children in need. DeMellier sells the full gamut of handbags for every occasion, from beach bags to totes, crossbody bags, bucket bags, mini bags, and evening bags. Most pieces are versatile neutrals, but they do offer some colorful and striped options for statement looks.

Where to Buy DeMellier

If you’re in the US, I recommend shopping at Revolve or Saks Fifth Avenue as they have reliable shipping and flexible return policies. For the biggest selection, head to the DeMellier London site.

Is a DeMellier Bag Worth It?

Yes, I think so. It’s challenging to find chic luxury bags right now that are made from high-quality materials (leather, raffia, lamé, polished metal accents) that don’t cost an arm and a leg (hi, Chanel and Celine), and DeMellier handbags seem to be holding their price points (under $500 for most pieces) for the long haul. If you’re new to the brand, I think the safest bet is to invest in one of their more versatile leather styles to start (like the Vancover or the New York crossbodies), which are also their most popular.
