Every fall we have a handful of events, such as fundraisers, galas, and openings, that call for attire somewhere between smart casual and dressy casual. Last week we attended our first of the season, and I wanted to share my look and fall event styles in case you have something similar on the calendar this year.
Since these typically raise awareness for a cause, I keep my outfits understated so as not to distract from the program yet elevated so I look forward to getting dressed. For me, that looks like mixing fluid pieces, like blouses and slip skirts, with tailored pieces, like trousers, blazers, and belts.
For this fall event look, I paired these wide-leg trousers, which are everything I want in an evening pant—high-waisted, relaxed, flattering, and pocketed—with a rusty silk blouse. Finished with a belt, heels, and clutch, it felt like just the right combination of modest, seasonal, and chic.
I started the night with this blazer from my fall wishlist over my shoulders and hardly took it off as we were right underneath a fan the entire night! You never know what the weather (or seating arrangement) will be this time of year, so a layer is a must.
See below for more picks to wear to a fall event this season. From long sleeve dresses to pants and blouses, there’s something for everyone depending on the look you want to achieve!
