What to Do in Raleigh this Holiday Season

Raleigh Holiday Season Activities

Raleigh was fully in the mood for the holidays about a week before Thanksgiving, with the Christmas Parade and several tree lightings already in the books. For a city in the south, Raleigh brings some true holiday charm, so I thought I’d share a full list of Raleigh holiday events, activities, and displays.

Performances & Shows

Christmas Movies at The Rialto Theatre

This vintage, cash-only cinema in Five Points and its friendly staff are so charming. They show Christmas specials and sell beer and wine at concessions.

A Christmas Carol at DPAC

A Raleigh classic show by Ira David Wood. They switch up the jokes every year to incorporate news headlines and pop culture.

Nutcracker by the Carolina Ballet

A holiday classic. Only a handful of DPAC performances so grab tickets quick!

Open Daily

Christmas Light Displays

I love to make a hot drink and take a drive to check out lights. ITB neighborhoods have the most classic displays, but there are kid-friendly options around town. Don’t miss the Chinese Lantern Festival at Koka Booth!

Angus Barn

My favorite holiday dinner spot. Enjoy their over-the-top decor and cozy accommodations, including an outdoor bar with free cookies and apps for guests waiting to be seated.

Christmas-Themed Bars

The Haymaker bar downtown transforms into Miracle at Haymaker through New Year’s Eve. They deck the halls and transform their menu into a seasonal one with cocktails like ‘Milk & Cookies.’

One Time Events

Christmas Markets

A number of markets pop up throughout December with hot chocolate, mulled wine, and activities for kids. Here’s a list of 50+ Triangle holiday markets.

Skillpop Holiday Classes

Learn to create a cheeseboard, hand embroider ornaments, creatively wrap gifts, and decorate cookies in these affordable classes taught by local entrepreneurs. Bring a friend or visiting family!

Do you have any traditions or favorite things to do in the Triangle around the holidays? I’d love to hear! If I missed any “can’t miss” Raleigh holiday events, let me know in the comments below. For more Raleigh content, see my list of the Best Restaurants in Raleigh, N.C.
